Regulatory Assurance and Improvement Advisor

Our Client, a Global Oil and Gas Operator is seeking a Regulatory Assurance and Improvement Advisor for a 6-month contract with potential to extend.

The Regulatory Assurance & Improvement Advisor will support the Safety Advisor Regulatory Focal Point in managing regulatory commitments, requests and interactions across the Clients Operations. The role provides critical coordination and assurance support to ensure regulatory obligations are met, responses are delivered to a high standard, and opportunities to strengthen systems and processes are identified and implemented.

The position requires close collaboration with technical subject matter experts, asset teams, HSSE professionals and business stakeholders to prepare regulatory submissions, support inspections and investigations, and drive improvements to governance, systems and ways of working.

Where You Fit In
You will be a member of the Safety & Environment team, working closely with the Regulatory Focal Point, HSSE leadership team, asset stakeholders and technical specialists.

The role will act in a supporting role for regulatory activities, helping ensure commitments, actions and regulatory engagements are effectively managed, tracked and delivered. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening regulatory assurance processes while supporting The Client’s commitment to Goal Zero, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

The Regulatory Assurance & Improvement Advisor is accountable for:

Systems & Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve regulatory management processes, governance arrangements and ways of working.
• Identify opportunities for AI, automation or other innovative approaches to improve Ways of Working
• Identify opportunities to leverage regulatory guidance/systems/processes to meet regulatory requirements and improve ways of working
• Implementation of identified enhancements to HSSE systems, processes and reporting tools.
• Develop and maintain guidance materials, templates and standardised processes that improve efficiency and consistency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen compliance, assurance and regulatory readiness.

Regulatory Coordination & Assurance

• Support the management and tracking of regulatory commitments, actions, requests and correspondence.
• Engage with internal stakeholders to gather information, develop regulatory correspondence and ensure deliverables are completed within agreed timeframes.
• Maintain visibility of regulatory obligations and provide status reporting to HSSE, internal stakeholders and asset leadership teams.

Regulatory Engagement Support

• Support preparation for regulatory inspections, audits and engagements.
• Assist with the development, review and quality assurance of documentation required for regulatory submissions and interactions.
• Coordinate evidence collection and documentation required to demonstrate compliance.
• Support responses arising from inspections, investigations and regulatory findings.
• Maintain organised records of regulatory interactions, commitments and supporting evidence.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build effective relationships with HSSE professionals, technical authorities, operations personnel and business stakeholders.
• Support alignment between regulatory requirements, business priorities and operational activities.
• Promote a culture of ownership, accountability and proactive management of regulatory commitments.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Proven experience with process and system improvement, digitalisation and automation.
• Experience working with management systems and action tracking tools.
• Strong ability to coordinate multiple workstreams and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing reports, submissions, responses or technical documentation.
• Experience in governance, assurance, HSSE, risk management or related disciplines.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability.
• Ability to analyse information, identify issues and drive actions to closure.
• High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of safety, environmental or operational management systems.
• Proven experience in process improvement
• Ability to utilise technology (AI, automation) for process improvement
• Strong data analytic skills, continuous improvement mindset
• Experience in regulatory compliance, ideally with NOPSEMA
• Oil and gas, resources, energy, infrastructure or other highly regulated industries.
