HME Reliability Engineer

A leading mining operation in North Queensland is seeking an experienced Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Reliability Engineer to provide short-term reliability engineering support across a large-scale mining fleet.
Working closely with maintenance, reliability and operational teams, you will play a key role in improving equipment performance, maximising fleet availability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

A leading mining operation in North Queensland is seeking an experienced Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) Reliability Engineer to provide short-term reliability engineering support across a large-scale mining fleet.
Working closely with maintenance, reliability and operational teams, you will play a key role in improving equipment performance, maximising fleet availability, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse fleet performance, reliability and maintenance KPIs.
- Conduct reliability investigations and root cause failure analyses (RCFA).
- Develop and implement equipment reliability improvement initiatives.
- Review preventative maintenance strategies and asset management plans.
- Identify defect elimination opportunities and drive continuous improvement outcomes.
- Support shutdown planning and execution activities as required.
- Analyse equipment data to identify recurring issues and optimise maintenance intervals.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to maximise fleet utilisation and availability.
- Provide technical recommendations for maintenance and component life optimisation.
- Support reliability reporting and performance reviews.
- Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a Reliability Engineer role within mining, heavy industry or mobile maintenance environments.
- Strong exposure to heavy mobile mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, excavators, graders, dozers and ancillary fleet.
- Experience with reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), FMEA and root cause analysis methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Experience using CMMS platforms such as SAP or similar maintenance management systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Able to work autonomously while contributing to a high-performing team.
