Position: Area 2 Manager (Flare & Vent System)
Location: Afungi, Mozambique
Duration: 12 months renewable
Rotation: 28/28
Start date: September

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Qualification level required for the position : Level 6 = Bachelor’s or equivalent level
· Technical skills required for the position : Degree in Engineering or another relevant subject required with either an advanced degree or professional qualifications preferred.
· Behavioural competencies required for the position : Strong HSE culture and safety leadership, effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence critical decisions.
· Language skills required for the position : Strong English written and verbal communication skills required. Portuguese or French is advantageous.
· Specific knowledge required for the position : Full understanding of areas critical to the success of large complex projects: safety, environmental, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk.
· Level of experience required for the position : 15 years’ experience, at least 5 years at a management level on the specific related subjects. Min. 5 years on large greenfield projects, LNG liquefactions (preferred), GTL, petrochemical, refinery or gas processing/feedstock plants.

· Immediately report or escalate any incidents occurring within the area of responsibility.
· Oversee the installation readiness of the LNG flare and vents systems, water treatment plant, propane storage area, and API tanks, ensuring all associated infrastructure is constructed and integrated according to project specifications and international standards.
· Coordinate and monitor all construction activities in the area, as per project requirements and construction procedures, up to the final handover to the Commissioning team, with specific attention to activities involving the Client’s responsibilities.
· Develop strong working relationships with the EPC Contractor, both in routine management and in the management of critical issues.
· Facilitate the development and review of execution plans, method statements, risk assessments, and other relevant procedures to ensure that work plans and scopes are aligned with project strategies, delivering safe, high-quality, and timely project execution.
· Maintain a physical presence at the site, directly and through superintendents and supervisors, to demonstrate safety commitment, oversee quality and construction, and maintain direct contact with Contractors’ and Subcontractors’ teams.
· Review construction progress from the EPC Contractor, provide inputs to the internal construction reporting system, identify any deviations or risks to the schedule, and propose potential mitigations to management and the EPC Contractor.
· Support management by providing input and coordination in the overall site management of the assigned area.
· Analyze the current situation, known and anticipated issues; identify potential risks using technical knowledge and experience; propose and influence technical and organizational solutions, lessons learned, and best practices.
· Prepare for and monitor the physical execution of pre-commissioning and the transition to commissioning, including during SIMOPS activities.
· Contribute to project peer reviews, and technical assurance reviews to ensure compliance with procedures.
· Monitor the effectiveness of the EPC Contractor’s construction management processes.
· Lead or attend all necessary construction planning meetings to ensure proper follow-up on issues and resolutions.
· Ensure the implementation and continuous improvement of quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes specific to flare and vents systems, water treatment plant, propane storage, and API tanks in coordination with quality responsible.
· Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials critical to project milestones.
· Ensure compliance with local regulations, standards, and permitting requirements relevant to LNG and associated systems projects in Mozambique.
· Oversee the interface management between flare and vents systems, water treatment plant, propane storage, API tanks, and other project disciplines to guarantee seamless integration and operation.
