The Role
An opportunity for an experienced BESS Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design activities across utility-scale battery storage projects from development through to commissioning.
Working closely with project delivery, OEMs, network providers, consultants, and contractors, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are technically compliant, commercially practical, and ready for construction and energisation.
This role is suited to someone with strong grid-scale BESS project exposure who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle in a hands-on engineering environment.

The Role
An opportunity for an experienced BESS Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design activities across utility-scale battery storage projects from development through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead primary electrical design for utility-scale BESS projects across HV/MV/LV systems.
- Prepare and review detailed engineering documentation including SLDs, protection philosophies, cable schedules, earthing layouts, switchgear arrangements, and GA drawings.
- Coordinate with OEMs, NSPs, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet technical and grid compliance requirements.
- Support equipment selection, technical evaluations, vendor management, and procurement activities.
- Contribute to grid connection and power system studies, including compliance and performance assessments.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, testing, and energisation activities.
- Monitor system performance, reliability, and operational efficiency across project delivery phases.
- Stay current with evolving BESS technologies, Australian standards, and grid connection requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- 8+ years’ electrical engineering experience within renewables, power systems, or energy infrastructure.
- Strong experience delivering grid-scale BESS projects within Australia.
- Exposure to utility-scale wind and/or solar projects highly regarded.
- Knowledge of HV infrastructure, grid connection processes, and utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Experience across design, commissioning, and project delivery environments.
- Familiarity with Australian standards, grid compliance requirements, and utility/network expectations.
- Proficiency in power system and electrical design software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerCAD, AutoCAD, or similar.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary project teams.
