Role Summary
Provides civil engineering support for foundation design, procurement, and construction coordination activities. Works closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely delivery of foundation-related scopes for major site works.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and finalize a concrete foundation RFP by year-end
- Evaluate contractor proposals and provide recommendations
- Coordinate concrete work alongside ongoing site civil earthworks activities (2026)
- Support similar coordination activities for driven pile foundations
- Assist in resolving design decisions between steel driven piles and concrete piles (including potential test pile programs)
- Evaluate alternative foundation solutions such as geogrid applications on river delta areas
- Support garage building foundation RFP development and execution
- Manage and respond to contractor RFIs
- Provide field engineering construction support (1–2 weeks per month during construction phase)
- Review vendor and engineering drawings for accuracy and compliance
- Support overall planning and coordination of civil and foundation activities
Role Scope
- Contributes to the planning and execution of foundation systems for large-scale infrastructure projects
- Supports coordination between design, procurement, and construction teams
- Ensures engineering deliverables align with project timelines and site requirements
- Plays a key role in resolving technical challenges related to foundation selection and execution
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in civil, geotechnical, or foundation engineering (junior to intermediate level)
- Familiarity with concrete foundations, piling systems, and earthworks
- Experience reviewing drawings and coordinating with contractors and vendors
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
- Site-based role in Kitimat, BC
- Rotational schedule (14 days on / 7 days off)
- Field involvement required during construction phase
