Role Summary:-
- A Coiled Tubing Field Specialist is a senior field-based role responsible for leading and executing complex coiled tubing and well intervention operations with a high level of technical expertise and operational authority. The role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of services while acting as the key technical leader on location in the absence of, or in support of, the Field Supervisor.
- The Field Specialist III is accountable for managing critical operational phases, troubleshooting complex wellsite challenges, and ensuring full compliance with HSE, well control, and client requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:-
- Lead and supervise complex coiled tubing operations at the wellsite
- Execute advanced interventions such as deep cleanouts, high-pressure milling, fishing operations, and stimulation support
- Oversee rig-up, pressure testing, operation, and rig-down of CTU and pressure control equipment
- Act as the primary technical authority on location during operations
- Monitor and interpret real-time operational data and make critical field decisions
- Troubleshoot complex surface and downhole equipment issues during live operations
- Ensure strict adherence to well control standards and HSE procedures
- Lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, and operational briefings
- Coordinate effectively with Field Supervisors, clients, and multi-service teams
- Mentor and train Field Specialists I/II and Field Operators
- Support job planning reviews and post-job reporting and evaluation
- Works with minimal supervision and may act as deputy or acting supervisor on location
- Holds significant technical authority during job execution
- Accountable for operational integrity, safety, and efficiency in complex jobs
Essential Requirements of the role (Experience / Skills / Competencies):-
- Years of experience: 8-12+ years
- Field of experience: 5-8+ years in CT
- Technical Skills:
- 1. Advanced Coiled Tubing Operations
- Full understanding of coiled tubing unit (CTU) operation and limitations
- Execution of complex jobs: cleanouts, nitrogen lifting, acid stimulation, milling, and fishing operations
- Knowledge of tubing fatigue management, depth control, and real-time operational adjustments
- 2. Pressure Control & Well Control Systems
- Strong expertise in BOP stacks, stripper assemblies, lubricators, and wellhead systems
- Pressure testing procedures and barrier verification
- Ability to recognize and respond to abnormal conditions (pressure anomalies, kicks, losses)
- 3. Downhole Tools & Job Design Support
- Experience with bottom hole assemblies (BHA), motors, jars, mills, and specialty fishing tools
- Ability to interpret job programs and ensure correct tool selection and assembly
- Troubleshooting downhole tool performance issues
- 4. Pumping & Stimulation Operations
- Operation and coordination of high-pressure pumping systems
- Understanding of fluid systems, nitrogen applications, and stimulation treatments
- Monitoring and adjusting pressure, rate, and volume during operations
- 5. Real-Time Data Monitoring & Interpretation
- Reading and interpreting surface parameters (pressure, depth, tension, pump rates)
- Use of real-time data acquisition systems during operations
- Making operational decisions based on live data trends
- 6. Equipment Setup, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Advanced knowledge of CTU hydraulic, mechanical, and control systems
- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and coordinate repairs
- Ensuring readiness of all surface and downhole equipment before operations
- 7. Wellsite Execution & Leadership Technical Input
- Ability to translate job programs into safe field execution steps
- Supporting supervisor in operational decision-making
- Ensuring technical compliance with engineering design and client requirements
- 8. HSE & Well Control Systems Integration
- Strong application of well control principles in live operations
- Integration of HSE requirements into technical execution (PTW, JSA, barrier management)
- Emergency response technical readiness

- Leads execution of coiled tubing operations on location when required
- Guides operators and ensures tasks are performed correctly and safely

- Tools or Software (Required / Preferred):
- At Field Specialist II level, the role requires both hands-on field tools knowledge and competency in digital systems used for job planning, execution, and reporting.
- Education Qualifications: Diploma or Technical Certificate or bachelor’s degree.
