Job Title: Construction Manager, Mining
Location: Alaska, USA (Travel Required)
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
The Construction Manager is the single point of accountability for all field construction execution for the Project. This role owns the safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery of all construction activities across civil, structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, process plant, infrastructure, marine, and ancillary facilities.
The Construction Manager operates within a matrixed project environment and must effectively collaborate with multiple project-specific managers, including but not limited to the Power Plant Manager, Pipeline Manager, Process Plant Manager, and Infrastructure Leads. While these managers retain scope ownership for their respective projects, the Construction Manager maintains field execution authority and ensures alignment, coordination, and integration across all work fronts.
When a project-specific manager is not physically present on site, the Construction Manager serves as the point of authority for field-related decisions, ensuring work continues safely and in accordance with approved scope, schedule, and regulatory commitments.
Job Responsibilities:
• Collaborate closely with project-specific managers (e.g., Power Plant, Pipeline, Process
Plant, Infrastructure).
• Execute construction activities in alignment with technical direction and scope priorities
established by each project manager.
• Manage effectively within a multi-dotted-line reporting structure.
• Balance field execution priorities across multiple project stakeholders.
• Serve as the on-site authority when project managers are offsite, escalating strategic
decisions as required.
• Facilitate alignment meetings to ensure scope integration, sequencing coordination, and
shared risk mitigation.
• Accountable for total field construction performance across all project scopes.
• Owns contractor safety performance, productivity, and schedule adherence.
• Ensures construction execution aligns with engineering intent and approved design
packages.
• Drives construction schedule delivery against baseline milestones.
• Leads field-level risk identification and mitigation.
• Serves as primary authority for construction decision-making in the field.
• Direct and oversee all site construction activities and contractor work fronts.
• Lead Superintendents, Area Leads, and field engineering teams.
• Establish and enforce construction sequencing and workface planning.
• Ensure effective integration of modularization, heavy lift operations, and seasonal execution
windows.
• Resolve field conflicts, execution barriers, and contractor performance issues.
• Support mechanical completion and structured turnover to commissioning teams.
• Champion and enforce a Zero Harm safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and State of Alaska regulations.
• Maintain adherence to environmental permits and regulatory commitments.
• Conduct routine field leadership walks and safety audits.
• Partner with regulatory inspectors and ensure readiness for inspections.
• Drive schedule execution aligned with the approved baseline.
• Provide accurate field progress reporting to Project Controls.
• Identify and mitigate schedule and productivity risks.
• Support change management processes and field-level impact assessments.
• Validate contractor progress quantities and support invoice review.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred
• Equivalent senior field leadership experience will be considered.
• Minimum 15+ years of progressive construction experience.
• 10+ years in senior construction leadership roles on large capital projects ($1B+ preferred).
• Experience operating successfully within matrixed or multi-discipline reporting environments.
• Experience in mining, heavy industrial, oil & gas, LNG, or mega infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience in remote or extreme climate construction environments.
• Experience managing multi-prime contractors and complex logistics environments.
Certifications (Preferred):
• PMP or CCM
• Professional Engineer (PE)
• MSHA certification
Leadership Competencies

• Ability to lead in a matrixed, multi-stakeholder environment.
• Strong contractor management and negotiation skills.
