Department: Project Director Team
Reports to: Contracts Manager
Location: Anchorage, Alaska

Position Description

This position is responsible for administering and overseeing the full lifecycle of major capital project contracts in support of the clients project.  This role ensures that contractual agreements support the strategic, operational, and financial objectives of the project while maintaining compliance with corporate governance standards and applicable regulations. The Contracts Administrator collaborates closely with Engineering, Construction, Project Controls, Supply Chain, Legal, and external contractors to ensure disciplined commercial management, proactive risk mitigation, and alignment with scope, schedule, and budget commitments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the full lifecycle administration of contracts from pre-award support through execution, performance monitoring, change management, and closeout.
  • Support development of contracting strategies aligned with project delivery models (EPC, EPCm, construction management, supply, and services).
  • Maintain and manage a comprehensive contract register, ensuring accurate tracking of key milestones, deliverables, insurance, bonds, and critical dates.
  • Support bid evaluations, commercial clarifications, and contract formation activities; review scopes of work for clarity and risk exposure.
  • Administer major capital contracts to ensure contractor performance aligns with scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with reporting requirements, insurance, bonding, and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead change management processes, including review, validation, negotiation, and documentation of change orders.
  • Partner with Project Controls to validate cost, schedule impacts, payment applications, and forecasting alignment.
  • Review and verify contractor invoices for contractual compliance and accuracy prior to approval.
  • Support assessment and resolution of contractor claims and commercial disputes while maintaining defensible documentation.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, joint venture governance requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Develop and refine contract administration procedures, templates, and workflows.
  • Facilitate commercial performance meetings with contractors to proactively resolve issues.
  • Lead contract closeout activities, ensuring completion of deliverables, resolution of outstanding commercial matters, and proper documentation of warranties and final records.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive contract administration experience, with at least 3 years supporting mining or large-scale capital construction projects.
  • Experience working in multi-billion-dollar project environments strongly preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CCCM, CFCM, CIPS, or PMP are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and risk allocation principles.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex contracts simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional project teams. Contracts Administrator
