Our client an Energy Operator in Perth CBD are currently seeking a Cost Controller for 12-month contract.  
This position is responsible for providing cost control support to projects within Operators Offshore Australia
project portfolio. The projects within the portfolio include Decommissioning, Development, Drilling and Completions, and Explorations projects.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Manage cost control activities for assigned projects.
  • Ensure the proper registration, validation and reporting of Value of Work Done (VOWD) and actual costs that are charged to projects.
  • Working with project managers to update cost forecasts based on latest project schedule and scope of work.
  • Prepare month end activities (Accruals, variance commentary).
  • Coordinate and prepare overall reporting and variance analysis against approved AFE, annual budgets/Long Term Plan budget, and forecasts and present to the senior leadership team.
  • Prepare and publish month cost report in Power BI to support month end review.
  • Ensure that agreed plans, procedures, systems and guidelines are correctly implemented.
  • Support cost control change programme.
  • Support Audits as required.
  • Update cost control database Prism.
  • Business partnering with Project Managers
  • Maintain the project cost forecast in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Manage Value of Work Done (VOWD), Performance Measurement, VOWD phasing, and all Cost Control activities for the allocated projects.
  • Provide oversight of Contractor’s work packages ensuring costs are monitored / reported in compliance with approved Contractor Project Controls Plan and invoices are properly validated.
  • Participate in weekly and monthly meeting with Contractors and Scope Owners, guiding the team in all cost well related issues for their assigned packages.
  • Consolidate and generate Value of Work Done (VOWD), Estimate to Complete (ETC) an Estimate at Completion (EAC).
  • Ensure that the cost forecasts reflect the latest project scope of work, project schedule, organisation, and project execution and contracting status.
  • Liaise with various departments (HR, Finance, legal, IT etc.) in providing Value of Work Done (VOWD),
  • Estimate to Complete (ETC), Estimate at Completion (EAC) and variance analysis against agreed AFEs/budgets.
  • Prepare month end activities such as accruals and month end variance commentary.
  • Provide input in the LTP/ Annual budget processes and liaise with Finance in review/rollup.
  • Manage Project Trends and Cost impacts.
  • Support the Purchase Requisition/Purchase Order Process.
  • Manage the Contingency Draw down and generate drawdown curves.
  • Update financials in Prism cost control database
  • Coordinate the development and provision of monthly cost forecast reports (presentations, reports to management and stakeholders etc.) for both internal and external purposes.
  • Support development and enhancement of Prism cost system
Key Skills and Experience Required:
  • Early Career professional with Engineering / Finance / Business / Commercial / Construction management background are encouraged to apply
  • 3-5 years of cost engineering experience in capital projects, preferably experience in an Offshore or Drilling & Completions environment.
  • Proactive and demonstrate positive attitude in learning and adaptive to change.
  • Experience in SAP and Power BI desirable.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project services and project contracting/procurement disciplines and their relationships to cost engineering activities.
  • Familiar with the use of proprietary and custom computer software systems used for project management.
  • Highly effective communication skills and ability to develop and present management reports at all levels, including presentations to management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills.
  • Analytical/technical skills with a practical approach to problem solving.
