Purpose
- As a Data Governance Specialist, you develop and implement data governance policies and procedures. Support defining data quality, compliance, and data security across the organization. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish best practices and improve data management and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute data quality management processes, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and consistency across master, reference, and operational data.
- Collaborate with data stewards, data owners, and business stakeholders to to ensure alignment with data governance standards and to resolve data quality issues
- Monitor data quality metrics and establish KPIs to evaluate data performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular data audits to identify and address data quality issues.
- Provide guidance and support to data users on data governance best practices.
- Maintain and update data governance documentation, including data dictionaries and metadata repositories.
- Manage data governance tools and platforms to support data governance activities.
- Identify opportunities for improving data management processes and recommend solutions.
- Coordinate with IT and data management teams to ensure data governance requirements are integrated into system development and maintenance.
- Facilitate data governance training and awareness programs for employees.
- Report on data governance and data quality metrics and performance to senior management.
- Lead data governance working groups and committees to drive data governance initiatives.
- Support the development and implementation of data governance strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Foster a culture of data governance and stewardship within the organization.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Certifications such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), PMP (Project Management Professional), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, demonstrating expertise in data governance and management, are preferred.
- Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors.
- A Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing data quality strategies and frameworks.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex data infrastructures, including cloud environments and data integration.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce data governance standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with data governance tools and frameworks such as Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of data privacy laws and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, and their application in data governance.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with a passion for developing and mentoring talent.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
