1. Role Purpose JOB CONTENT
The Director of Exploration is responsible for leading and managing all technical aspects of the company’s mineral exploration programs. This role will oversee project generation, target identification, exploration strategy, and execution of field programs, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with corporate, regulatory, and safety standards. The Director of Exploration will manage technical teams, contractors, and consultants, while working closely with the Chief Exploration Officer to deliver on the company’s exploration growth strategy.
2. Duties and Responsibilities
A. Technical Leadership
· Design, implement, and oversee functional exploration strategies and programs across all projects.
· Lead geological interpretation, target generation, and resource definition initiatives.
· Supervise and review geological mapping, sampling, drilling, geophysics, and geochemistry programs.
· Ensure technical work meets international best practices (e.g., NI 43-101, JORC).
· Manage the integration of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data into coherent exploration models.
B. Project & Team Management
· Direct day-to-day technical operations of exploration projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
· Manage and mentor exploration geologists, field staff, and contractors.
· Oversee preparation of technical reports, presentations, and exploration updates for internal and external stakeholders.
· Ensure adherence to health, safety, environmental, and community relations standards in all exploration activities.
C. Collaboration & Reporting
· Work closely with the Chief Exploration Officer to refine exploration strategy and allocate resources effectively.
· Provide timely updates, progress reports, and technical recommendations to the CXO.
· Liaise with external consultants, laboratories, and joint-venture partners to ensure technical quality and cost-effectiveness.
3. Minimum Qualification & Experience: · Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field.
· Master’s preferred.
· Minimum 20 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration, including at least 5 years in a management role.
· Strong background in copper/gold/chromite/REE/other commodities as relevant exploration and discovery.
· Proven track record of leading successful exploration programs from grassroots to resource definition.
· Familiarity with resource modelling, economic geology, and early-stage project evaluation.
· Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to manage multidisciplinary technical teams.
· Knowledge of applicable reporting codes (NI 43-101, JORC) and exploration best practices.
· Strong communication and presentation skills with experience reporting to executive leadership and investors.
