The Director of EHS&S will be responsible for managing the EHSS Department at the Avondale and St. Rose terminals in Louisiana. The EHSS Director will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all business activities in the terminals in accordance with company policies, local and federal regulatory agencies.

The Director of EHS&S will be responsible for managing the EHSS Department at the Avondale and St. Rose terminals in Louisiana. The EHSS Director will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all business activities in the terminals in accordance with company policies, local and federal regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities
- Oversee programs, policies, and practices to ensure the terminal complies with company policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. Lead these programs in a way to promote operational excellence with respect to EHSS compliance and culture.
- Remain up to date on current, pending, and proposed EHSS regulations and developments in the bulk liquid storage industry. Consult local, regional, and corporate management on both current and future regulatory impacts.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, local governmental authorities, and local community organizations as necessary. Represent Company during regulatory audits, inquires, and investigations.
- Develop and manage the Avondale and St. Rose EHSS budget.
- Develop and mentor staff in leadership and technical skills necessary for succession.
- Ensure compliance with air and water permits, oversee sampling activities, and oversee development of air and water permit modifications.
- Oversee solid and hazardous waste activities, including sampling, analysis, and proper disposal.
- Oversee EHSS monitoring, recordkeeping, and reporting processes.
- Oversee the facility security plan as Facility Security Officer (FSO) and manage the security department.
- Manage EHSS training program for facility personnel.
- Provide support to the Operations and Maintenance Departments on EHSS matters.
- Review new products or processes for evaluation of potential safety hazards and environmental permit implications.
- Review and recommend modifications and changes in the facility's equipment and/or procedures to achieve environmental or health/safety goals.
- Conduct accident/incident investigations, prepare “Root Cause Analysis” and/or “HAZOP Studies” where appropriate.
- Participate in internal EHSS audits at other terminals as needed.
- Respond to emergencies as needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in an EHSS or engineering related field
- Over ten years of EHSS experience with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility.
- Valid Driver’s License
- TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to terminal locations.
- Strong leadership, management, supervisory and interpersonal skills. The ability to influence across organizational lines is critical.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business challenges and find compliant solutions working in partnership with management teams.
- Accreditation(s) from a well-established environmental, safety, or professional accreditation entity.
- Excellent math and communications skills
- Proficient in the use of computers and familiar with most common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous experience in an industrial facility is preferred
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language
- Ability to understand and communicate in written and verbal communication in the English language.
- Ability to communicate with customers and terminal personnel.
- Ability to make decisions in a variable environment
