Job Title: EHS Coordinator
Location: Oakville, ON
Length: 6 Months (with potential extension)
Rotation: Monday - Friday
 
Role Summary
Provides Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) support to project and field operations. Acts as a key resource for regulatory compliance, safety program implementation, incident management, and continuous improvement of HSE systems. Supports site leadership, project teams, and stakeholders in fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring adherence to legislative and corporate requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all employees and contractors comply with applicable provincial and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Project Management Team in the implementation of effective Site‑Specific Safety Plans, including plan development, job safety analysis (JSA), safe work practices, hazard and risk assessments, and incident investigations as required.
  • Assist Senior Location Managers in meeting their EHS role and compliance requirements.
  • Support Joint Health and Safety Committees in fulfilling legislated duties and responsibilities.
  • Conduct incident investigations for injuries and near misses to identify root causes, trends, and prevention strategies; document and report findings, lessons learned, and corrective actions using Siemens tools and to relevant management.
  • Report workplace injuries to the applicable Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB).
  • Continuously support improvement of Health, Safety, and Environment programs by updating hazard assessments, identification of aspects and impacts, JSAs, and safe work policies and procedures in collaboration with Field Operations teams.
  • Support maintenance of EHS Insight software, perform quality reviews of safety records, and communicate updates to the safety program.
  • Support the safety training program and deliver Siemens‑specific safety training, both virtually and in person.
  • Support the Supplier Pre‑Qualification process.
  • Monitor and support the Certificate of Recognition (COR) process, along with mandatory customer and project requirements.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of new initiatives rolled out within the EHS program.
  • Travel to project and branch sites and conduct site safety inspections as required.
 
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an Environmental Health and Safety program from a recognized college or university, an industry‑recognized program, or possess equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in an Occupational Health and Safety role within a construction environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident investigations, root cause analysis, workplace inspections, hazard analysis, risk assessment, development of safe work practices and job safety analyses, and employee relations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Canadian occupational health and safety and workers’ compensation legislation and regulations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of COR requirements and EHS Management Systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a high‑pace, remote work environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.
