About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Shutdown Planner to support a major mining operation in Papua New Guinea. Working on a 21/21 back-to-back roster, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and supervising comprehensive maintenance shutdown plans, ensuring all electrical and instrumentation activities are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. This is a critical role focused on maximizing asset reliability, improving shutdown performance, and ensuring maintenance work is fully planned and execution-ready before commencement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage maintenance plans for asset-aligned shutdowns.
  • Create and release work orders, ensuring all required resources, labour requirements, and task lists are included.
  • Build comprehensive work packages covering scope, materials, tooling, services, permits, and maintenance kits.
  • Coordinate with maintenance, operations, supply chain, and contractors to ensure effective shutdown execution.
  • Verify the availability of materials, equipment, tooling, and services to meet shutdown schedules.
  • Manage maintenance requisitions, purchase orders, and identify critical-path items.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, inspections, and shutdown documentation.
  • Analyse planned versus actual labour, contractor, and material costs.
  • Identify risks, required permits, isolation requirements, and safety controls for all planned work.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety standards, maintenance procedures, audits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage equipment and spare-part warranty processes where applicable.
  • Prepare regular reports detailing shutdown progress, compliance, performance, and deviations.
  • Support contractor management and safety performance during shutdown execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning, scheduling, and maintenance execution processes.
Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance planning within mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and coordinating major shutdowns and maintenance campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installation, commissioning, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair activities.
  • Experience working with Extra Low Voltage (ELV), Low Voltage (LV), and High Voltage (HV) systems.
  • Proven experience developing detailed work packages and managing maintenance resources.
  • Strong knowledge of materials management, warehouse coordination, and procurement processes.
  • Experience managing maintenance-related purchase orders and contractor services.
  • Proficiency with MS Project or equivalent planning and scheduling software.
  • Experience using SAP PM, CMMS, or similar maintenance management systems.
  • Sound understanding of permit-to-work systems, risk assessments, isolations, and maintenance safety requirements.
  • Experience supporting contractor management and shutdown execution activities.
