E&I Supervisor
The Opportunity:
We are recruiting an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor for a world-scale onshore LNG construction project. Reporting to the Field Engineering & Supervision Manager, you will cover all E&I construction, installation, inspection, testing and pre-commissioning activities across assigned EPC work
areas, up to Mechanical Completion.
This is a hands-on field supervision role requiring strong daily presence at the workfront, safety leadership, quality surveillance and multi-discipline interface coordination with EPC contractor teams and vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
• Workfront preparation: Attend daily coordination meetings with the EPC contractor; review look-ahead schedules, manpower allocation and equipment/tools availability; validate workfront readiness (access, scaffolding, permits, energization plans, materials) and identify constraints early.
• Field supervision: Supervise installation of electrical systems (LV/MV equipment, transformers, motors, earthing and lighting) and instrumentation devices (pressure/temperature transmitters, control valves, analyzers, F&G instruments); ensure correct use of approved drawings (SLD, cable schedules, loop and
hook-up drawings, instrument index).
• Technical oversight: Verify installation practices: cable pulling, glanding, termination, panel installation, calibration and loop checks; provide daily technical clarifications to EPC supervisors and field crews.
• Quality surveillance: Inspect cable trays, routing, segregation and supports; instrument installation and orientation; gland sealing, terminations and polarity; earthing continuity; calibration, loop testing and signal verification; electrical testing (IR, continuity, functional). Follow up NCRs, observations, punch
items and ITP compliance.
• HSE leadership: Perform daily safety walkdowns; enforce permit-to-work, LOTO, hazardous area classification rules and electrical safety procedures; stop unsafe activities immediately; ensure safe energization practices.
• Interface management: Coordinate daily with Civil, Mechanical/Piping, Rotating & Static equipment, QA/QC and Commissioning teams; resolve cable tray congestion, access and sequencing clashes.
• Pre-commissioning readiness: Track readiness for LV/MV system testing, loop checks, continuity/megger tests, calibration verification, MCC energization and fire & gas testing; manage daily punch list progress and provide accurate field inputs to the completions database.
• Reporting: Prepare daily discipline reports (progress, constraints, HSE observations, productivity, next day priorities); review and approve check sheets, test records, loop folders and QC documentation.
Working Environment
• Site-based, rotational position on a remote construction site in Northern Mozambique.
• Camp accommodation with health (malaria mitigation) and security protocols in place.
• Large multi-cultural workforce and multiple EPC packages – strong interface environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Electrical or Instrumentation engineering qualification (degree or higher technical diploma), or equivalent trade background with substantial supervisory experience.
• Minimum 10 years' E&I construction and pre-commissioning experience on large Oil & Gas / LNG projects, including at least 5 years in a field supervision role.
• Strong knowledge of hazardous area installations (IECEx/ATEX) and electrical safety practices; CompEx certification desirable.
• Proficient in reading and enforcing E&I engineering documentation (SLD, cable schedules, loop and hook-up drawings, instrument index).
• Experience with completions/certification databases and ITP-based quality regimes.
• Fluent English; experience in remote, multi-cultural site environments.
• Medically fit for remote site assignment (Fitness to Work certification required prior to mobilisation).
