GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Equipment Inspector is responsible for carrying out equipment inspections and report writing, according to the Equipment Strategy (ES) and in accordance with the Global Inspection Practices (GIPs). The Equipment Inspector shall work under the supervision of the Inspection Supervisor.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Equipment Inspector must be qualified and authorised as per FAES Central Authorisation Matrix.

The Equipment Inspector is responsible for carrying out equipment inspections and report writing, according to the Equipment Strategy (ES) and in accordance with the Global Inspection Practices (GIPs). The Equipment Inspector shall work under the supervision of the Inspection Supervisor.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Inspecting fixed equipment, reviewing NDT results and reporting on equipment condition on units across the site.
- Updating inspection records.
- Bringing to the immediate attention of the Unit Inspector or the Fixed Equipment Engineer (Prime Contact) any serious concerns relating to the condition of the equipment being inspected which might give rise to a dangerous situation.
- Ensuring damage is appropriately recorded in the inspection report and categorised with appropriate follow up as per FAES procedures.
- The Equipment Inspector should have basic knowledge of inspection, NDT techniques, engineering materials, Quality Control, fabrication and welding.
- The Equipment Inspector will liaise with the Operations and Maintenance Departments on day to day operational problems and will advise the Unit Inspection Engineer or Inspection Supervisor as required.
- The Equipment Inspector should be familiar with the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSRs) and capable of inspecting Major Equipment as defined by the Pressure Systems Legislation. The Equipment Inspector must have suitable qualifications for RG2 Category 3, such as HNC or ONC and at least five years of relevant experience on pressure systems. Where these requirements are not met the level of supervision must reflect this.
