Position Overview We are looking for an operational Export Control & Customs Specialist to join our client in Denmark for an assignment. This role is primarily focused on hands-on Export Control execution, with around 70% of the role dedicated to daily Export Control activities and the remaining part supporting customs compliance.

This is not a purely advisory or governance role. We are looking for someone who works directly with Export Control activities on a daily basis and can support the business with practical, compliant, and efficient execution across international trade processes.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience with EU export control regulations, including dual-use assessments, compliance checks and product-related control reviews, combined with solid customs knowledge such as HS classification, import/export flows, and customs data management.

Key Responsibilities Export Control – Operational Focus (approx. 70%)
  • Perform daily hands-on Export Control checks in line with EU regulations.
  • Conduct dual-use assessments, product-related control reviews, and export compliance checks.
  • Review transactions, end-use, and end-user information to support compliant export decisions.
  • Maintain and update Export Control master data, including product and transaction-related compliance information.
  • Support export licence applications and related regulatory documentation where required.
  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with applicable EU export control regulations; knowledge of UK and US regulations is an advantage.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support smooth and compliant operational execution.
  • Monitor relevant regulatory changes and support implementation into daily processes.
  • Contribute to internal compliance checks, documentation, and continuous improvement of procedures.
Customs Compliance (approx. 30%)
  • Support accurate and compliant customs processes for import and export activities.
  • Classify goods using the correct HS codes and maintain customs master data in SAP.
  • Monitor import/export flows and ensure alignment with relevant customs legislation and internal procedures.
  • Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams on customs-related activities.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and support customs documentation and operational follow-up.
  • Assist with customs authorisations, audits, and inquiries where needed.
  • Help maintain customs-related procedures, documentation, and process accuracy.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Foreign Trade, Customs, Export Control, International Trade Law, or a similar relevant field.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in Export Control and Customs, ideally in an operational role.
  • Strong practical experience with EU export control regulations.
  • Solid experience with dual-use checks, export compliance reviews, and daily operational execution.
  • Customs experience including HS classification, customs processes, and import/export flows.
  • Experience working with SAP, ideally SAP S/4HANA.
  • Experience with customs systems and trade compliance data management.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Excellent command of Danish and English.
Preferred Profile
  • A candidate who is personally executing the work, not only overseeing it.
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to manage day-to-day trade compliance activities accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience working in an international environment with cross-functional stakeholders across operations, logistics, and compliance.
