Job Title: Field Service Technician
Contract Length: 6 months
Compensation: Market Rate
Location- Detroit Michigan
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician (Contractor) with strong mechanical aptitude and hands on field experience. In this role, you will travel to customer sites to perform lock installations on chemical tanks and support other mechanical service activities such as valve replacements and troubleshooting. This is a customer facing, field driven position requiring technical proficiency, problem solving capability, reliable communication, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
• Travel to customer sites across assigned metro regions to perform scheduled and unscheduled service work
• Install locks on chemical tanks and perform intermittent valve replacements or related mechanical service tasks
• Complete required documentation accurately, including:
o Monthly expense reports
o Daily service call logs
o Weekly tracking and route completion reports
• Maintain detailed records of all service visits, including issues identified, actions taken, and parts consumed
• Plan and prioritize daily workload with the manager to execute cost effective preventative maintenance schedules
• Independently complete lock installation projects and ensure work is performed safely and efficiently
• Troubleshoot service issues and resolve customer problems using effective technical reasoning
• Respond to emergency service calls when required—including occasional nights, weekends, or holidays
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customer site personnel and represent the company professionally
• Provide customer training and demonstrations on product operation as needed
• Support additional locations or regions based on business needs
Basic Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years in Field Service Technician role
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior field service technician experience strongly preferred
• Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related technical field preferred
• Hands on technical aptitude in one or more areas:
o Mechanical systems
o Plumbing
o Electrical
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time, routing, and documentation independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self motivated, customer focused, and capable of working both independently and within a team
