About the Project:
For the construction and commissioning of a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission system, we are seeking a versatile and experienced professional to cover the role of HVDC Mechanical Erection Supervisor. This position ensures smooth and proper erection of sensitive HVDC equipment.
Working days: 06 days/week.
Role Overview: The HVDC Mechanical Erection Supervisor is responsible for the technical leadership and onsite execution of all mechanical erection activities. This role manages the installation, alignment, and assembly of heavy converter station equipment, ensuring that all work is completed to OEM tolerances, within strict safety parameters, and according to the project’s mechanical completion schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
• Mechanical Assembly Execution: Lead the installation of mechanical components, including converter transformers, reactors, cooling system piping, valve support structures, and gantry steelwork.
• Precision Alignment: Supervise the leveling, alignment, and anchoring of heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with precision engineering standards (e.g., thermal expansion gaps, bolt torque specifications, and clearance tolerances).
• Lifting & Rigging Supervision: Act as the technical lead for complex lifts. Review and approve lifting plans, ensure crane capacity and rigging integrity, and oversee the movement of oversized components into final positions.
• Quality Control (Mechanical): Perform field inspections to verify that mechanical assemblies are free from defects, properly painted/protected, and conform to the "Issued for Construction" (IFC) drawings.
• Subcontractor Coordination: Direct the activities of mechanical contractors and specialized crews, ensuring productivity is maintained and resources (manpower/tools) are deployed effectively.
• Interface Management: Collaborate closely with electrical supervisors to ensure
mechanical support systems (e.g., cable trays, conduit supports, busbar hangers) are correctly installed to facilitate subsequent electrical installation.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate site logs, document "as-built" conditions, verify torque-tightening checklists, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for mechanical installation issues.
Required Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Experience: 5+ years of relevant experience in the installation of heavy industrial or power infrastructure; proven track record in an HVDC or High-Voltage substation project environment is highly preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly
drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and civil layout drawings.
• Equipment Mastery: Strong knowledge of heavy-duty installation equipment, including hydraulic jacks, torque tools, laser alignment tools, and crane/rigging gear.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary crews and maintain high safety standards in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Safety Certifications: Relevant local safety certifications (e.g., WSH Supervisor training for Singapore sites), SSSC and specialized training in heavy lifting operations.
