Instrument Technician
Location- Dorset
Role Overview
A hands on operations and maintenance role within a multidisciplinary team, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient running of an onshore oil and gas facility. You’ll carry out both planned and reactive maintenance across key systems including process control, safety, fire & gas, and instrumentation, while supporting plant reliability and maximising production. The role also involves working with CMMS systems, managing permits, contributing to continuous improvement, and supporting projects alongside vendors and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to safely operate and maintain an onshore oilfield, maximising plant availability and performance.
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance in line with company standards and procedures.
- Maintain and fault-find on systems including:
- Safety, Fire & Gas, and Gas Detection systems
- Flow measurement and process control (pressure, temperature, level)
- DCS, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
- Develop, review, and improve operational and maintenance procedures.
- Manage and complete maintenance work orders via CMMS, raising new requests to address equipment failures.
- Raise and manage permits to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Support projects and liaise with vendors and subcontractors as required.
- Adhere to change management processes, including plant modification proposals.
- Promote a strong safety culture by reporting observations and ensuring compliance with HSE standards.
- Participate in shift meetings and contribute to effective team communication.
- Support environmental and waste management initiatives.
- Time-served apprenticeship or HNC (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
- Experience within oil & gas or a similar process/industrial environment preferred.
- Knowledge of ATEX equipment (CompEx) desirable but not essential.
