Position Summary The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities at Hobbs Generating Station, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of the facility. This position directs the planning, scheduling, execution, and continuous improvement of maintenance programs for power generation equipment and balance-of-plant systems. The Maintenance Manager provides leadership to maintenance personnel and contractors while supporting plant performance, environmental compliance, and operational excellence objectives.
The successful candidate will promote a strong safety culture, drive equipment reliability initiatives, manage maintenance budgets, and ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Leadership
  • Champion a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OSHA, EPA, state, and company safety requirements.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs.
  • Conduct safety observations, audits, and field inspections.
Maintenance Management
  • Direct all preventive, predictive, corrective, and outage maintenance activities.
  • Develop and execute long-term equipment reliability and asset management strategies.
  • Oversee maintenance planning and scheduling processes to maximize plant availability.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and repair of turbines, generators, electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, auxiliary equipment, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Establish maintenance priorities based on operational needs and equipment criticality.
Reliability and Performance
  • Monitor plant equipment performance and reliability metrics.
  • Lead root cause failure analyses and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance technologies and condition monitoring tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency, and cost reduction.
Leadership and Personnel Development
  • Supervise maintenance supervisors, technicians, planners, and contractors.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and professional development opportunities.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment, and succession planning efforts.
  • Foster teamwork and collaboration between operations, maintenance, engineering, and management personnel.
Budget and Contractor Management
  • Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets and capital improvement plans.
  • Control maintenance expenditures while maintaining high reliability standards.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, and contractor performance.
  • Support procurement activities for maintenance materials, equipment, and services.
Outage Planning and Execution
  • Lead major maintenance outages, inspections, and capital projects.
  • Coordinate outage schedules, staffing, materials, and contractor resources.
  • Ensure outages are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Conduct post-outage reviews to identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
Compliance and Documentation
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with applicable permits, regulations, and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, procedures, and equipment histories.
  • Support regulatory inspections and audits.
  • Ensure effective utilization of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of power plant, industrial manufacturing, or energy facility maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience managing maintenance programs in a power generation environment.
  • Knowledge of rotating equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours and respond to plant emergencies as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in natural gas-fired generation facilities, combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, or combined-cycle power plants.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with outage management and major equipment overhauls.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and reliability engineering principles.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including climbing stairs, ladders, and accessing elevated work areas.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and industrial plant environments.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
