Contract Period: 12 months
Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 p/hr

Position Summary
The Minerals Mill Worker / Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy earthmoving equipment in a strip-mining environment. This role supports mining operations through material handling, equipment maintenance, and adherence to all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including dozers, loaders, backhoes, off‑road haul trucks, graders, and rock drills.
- Push waste and ore material to designated dumps and stockpiles.
- Maintain accurate records for equipment operation, fueling, and maintenance.
- Perform routine operational maintenance including greasing, fueling, and cleaning equipment.
- Clean tracks, buckets, and cabs using hand tools as required.
- Assist maintenance mechanics with equipment repairs when necessary.
- Service equipment by changing lubricants, filters, and wear components.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the shift.
- Maintain focus while performing repetitive equipment cycles for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, and use heavy tools and equipment parts.
- Perform repetitive hand and arm movements when operating manual tools and lifting devices.
- Work rotating shifts, including afternoon and graveyard shifts.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities
- Comply with all regulatory requirements and company HSE policies.
- Perform work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Continually inspect work areas for unsafe conditions or practices.
- Take corrective or interim action on identified hazards and report to supervision.
- Participate in required safety training, drills, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Report all injuries, near misses, property damage, and hazardous conditions immediately.
Qualifications
- Prior experience operating heavy equipment in a mining, construction, or industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.
