Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Occupational Hygienist to support a major infrastructure project, on a 14/7 roster from Brisbane. The successful person will be responsible for implementing and managing occupational hygiene programs that protect workforce health and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
In this role, you will play a key part in supporting project leadership by driving proactive initiatives to prevent workplace illness and exposure risks. You will undertake a broad range of technical occupational hygiene activities, ensuring alignment with environmental, safety, and health (ES&H) standards.
This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in developing, implementing, and maintaining hygiene programs, systems, and procedures, while identifying and controlling workplace hazards. The role will also involve investigating incidents, assessing risks, and recommending practical improvements to minimise exposure and enhance workplace safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments for occupational health hazards
- Develop and maintain the project’s occupational hygiene profile
- Establish and manage occupational hygiene records and systems
- Implement and oversee occupational hygiene programs
- Provide training and guidance to employees and project teams
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement effective risk controls
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, approvals, and standards
- Communicate occupational health risks and control measures
- Determine and apply Occupational Exposure Limits (OELs)
- Conduct exposure monitoring and assessments in line with project schedules
- Maintain and calibrate monitoring and sampling equipment
- Review contractor hygiene risk assessments and provide recommendations
- Support and mentor junior ES&H personnel
- Analyse monitoring data and contribute to occupational health surveys
- Provide technical advice and regulatory interpretation to project teams
- Degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in occupational hygiene within a construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry environment
- Strong capability in exposure monitoring, data analysis, and reporting
- Sound understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
