Job Title: Senior Petrophysicist

About The Role
The Petrophysicist will work in a small, focused, geotechnical team seeking an experienced Petrophysicist for the Houston office to support offshore exploration and development activities in the Gulf of America. We are looking for a candidate with a track record of verified petrophysical evaluations of deepwater wells, support of interdisciplinary technical projects as well as planning and execution of formation evaluation programs for deep water projects.
The highest level of technical excellence is required, and active participation within integrated teams, requiring seamless interaction with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, operations staff, and drilling and facilities engineers. Collaboration across these disciplines is essential for success, and candidates must excel under pressure, delivering accurate interpretations on tight timelines while maintaining composure. Strong organizational skills are crucial, as the position demands ownership of data management responsibilities, overseeing integrity and accuracy throughout each project. In addition, excellent presentation and communication abilities—both written and verbal—are required for conveying technical information to various stakeholders within the organization.
The Petrophysicist will work in the Houston Corporate office and may occasionally work remotely as business needs allow.

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/ extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. Key Responsibilities
- Formation evaluation and development of petrophysical models for a variety of age reservoirs for offshore Gulf of America
- Actively participate with a multidisciplinary team that undertakes subsurface technical evaluations and reservoir characterization projects.
- Integration and calibration of core to wireline and LWD log data to provide volumetric determination, lithological determination, fluid contacts and completions recommendations
- Maintain and update the field specific petrophysical models, integrating and reconciling existing and future data from all subsurface disciplines
- Maintain well data for exploration and development areas
- Data collection activities include planning and execution of formation evaluation programs and procedures for coring, wireline logging, data quality control, computer processing, and data management
- Support open hole log applications and interpretation of routine and advanced core analysis.
- Perform operational petrophysics while drilling, real time evaluation, collection of formation pressures, fluid samples and rotary sidewall cores
- Liaise with core analysis, coring, mudlogging, wireline, and LWD companies and in-house experts, to verify operational procedures are being executed with high standards of safety, quality, and best practices
- Display strong organizational and communication skills, making evaluations, interpretations, and assessments available for integration by team members from assets
- Champion petrophysical knowledge sharing / mentorship across the subsurface organization
- Undertake petrophysical regional studies to support near field exploration and development teams in their efforts to evaluate new basins/plays and improve reservoir characterization of strategic assets
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or Engineering Discipline
- Minimum 12 years of Petrophysical Engineering experience within the oil industry, service company or producer
- Deep water basin experience such as Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, or Atlantic Margins
- Experience with petrophysical software packages: Geolog. IP or Techlog experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Database management experience. Must be willing to clean data, splice logs, and manage daily reporting and data transfer while drilling wells
- Experienced in advanced methods of post core retrieval handling and analysis techniques
- Demonstrated ability to design fit for purpose logging programs in deepwater reservoir systems.
- Able to assist in building Pore Pressure Predictions for pre-drill modeling.
- Analysis of formation pressures and samples from wireline and LWD for fluid contacts, fluid type, and reservoir quality is required

- Pore pressure prediction
- Multi-mineral petrophysical interpretation skills
- Image log processing and interpretation skills
- NMR processing
- Reservoir quality prediction software such as Touchstone
- Unconventional experience is a plus
