Power Plant Project Manager
We’re working with a major, large-scale resource project in Alaska that’s building out critical infrastructure to support a remote, high-value operation. They’re looking for a Senior Power Projects leader to take ownership of one of the most important scopes on site — the full delivery of power generation and distribution systems.
This is a high-impact role with real visibility, where you’ll be leading from early engineering through to commissioning and handover, shaping how power is delivered across a complex, remote environment. If you enjoy solving big challenges and operating at project leadership level, this is a standout opportunity.
What You’ll Do
Take full ownership of the power scope across the entire project lifecycle, from early design through to energisation and handover.
Lead execution strategy and ensure alignment across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
Manage multiple EPCM contractors, driving performance, accountability, and delivery against scope, schedule, and budget.
Oversee the design and delivery of generation, substations, and transmission systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with relevant standards.
Handle complex interfaces across different project workstreams, avoiding clashes and keeping everything moving forward.
Drive procurement strategy for major equipment, factoring in long-lead items and remote logistics challenges.
Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities, ensuring systems are delivered safely and ready for operations.
Partner closely with project controls to manage budgets, forecasts, and timelines.
Act as a key point of contact for senior leadership, providing clear updates on progress, risks, and performance.
Identify and manage risks across the project, particularly around logistics, weather, and remote delivery challenges.
What You Bring
Strong background delivering large-scale capital projects, ideally within energy, mining, or heavy industrial environments.
Deep understanding of power systems including generation, high-voltage distribution, and substations.
Proven experience working within EPCM or multi-contractor project environments.
Track record of leading complex scopes from early engineering through to commissioning.
Ability to manage large teams and multiple stakeholders in high-pressure environments.
Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, contracts, and procurement strategies.
Engineering degree required, with PE or project management certification seen as a plus.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This is not a maintenance or steady-state role — it’s a chance to lead a critical infrastructure package on a major project still being built.
You’ll be operating at senior level, influencing key decisions and working closely with leadership.
The scale, complexity, and remote nature of the project create a unique challenge that doesn’t come up often.
There’s strong long-term potential as the project moves from delivery into operations.
