About the Role
We’re seeking a Principal Software Engineer to act as a senior technical leader, driving impact well beyond their immediate team. This role is pivotal in shaping engineering excellence across the organisation, leading by example, mentoring engineers across multiple teams, and uplifting capability through coaching, knowledge sharing, and involvement in hiring.
You will define and champion a clear technical vision, setting high standards and guiding strategy across organisational boundaries to deliver meaningful business outcomes. With a strong focus on aligning technology with business goals, you’ll establish and execute against ambitious roadmaps, continuously adapting to evolving priorities and challenges.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing technical vision, standards, and strategy
- Leading complex, large-scale engineering initiatives and problem solving
- Mentoring and coaching engineers to uplift capability across teams
- Ensuring reliability, performance, and long-term health of critical platforms
- Aligning engineering outcomes with business objectives and priorities
- Driving best practices in software design, security, and scalability
- Removing cross-team blockers and enabling effective collaboration
- Contributing to hiring and building high-performing engineering teams
- 10–15+ years’ experience in senior software engineering roles, delivering complex solutions at scale
- Proven technical leadership influencing architecture, standards, and engineering practices
- Strong experience with modern architectures (distributed systems, cloud-native, microservices)
- Advanced cloud expertise (AWS preferred), including infrastructure as code and observability
- Track record of owning and improving the reliability, performance, and security of critical platforms
- Strong programming, system design, and end-to-end delivery capability
- Ability to drive engineering best practices, quality, and scalability
- Experience mentoring engineers and building team capability
- Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to navigate complex environments
- Contract Length: 12 Months
- Location: Perth, WA (CBD office with flexible working arrangements)
- Elibility: Applicants must be based in Perth WA and have Full AU Work Rights
