NES Fircroft is supporting a major industrial organisation driving the development of large‑scale green hydrogen projects across the Netherlands. These projects involve the design, construction, and operation of next‑generation electrolysis facilities that will supply renewable hydrogen to decarbonise sectors such as petrochemicals, steel, and heavy industry.
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities during project execution. This role is central to ensuring technical quality, contractor performance, and the successful delivery of complex, first‑of‑kind hydrogen assets.

These projects involve the design, construction, and operation of next‑generation electrolysis facilities that will supply renewable hydrogen to decarbonise sectors such as petrochemicals, steel, and heavy industry.
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities during project execution. This role is central to ensuring technical quality, contractor performance, and the successful delivery of complex, first‑of‑kind hydrogen assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and monitor engineering activities throughout project execution
- Act as the technical counterpart to the Project Manager, including deputising when required
- Lead the client’s technical team and chair Technical Progress Meetings
- Manage daily interaction with the EPC Contractor and ensure alignment on requirements
- Ensure compliance with codes, standards, QA/QC policies, and project specifications
- Define engineering organisation charts, staffing plans, and discipline responsibilities
- Oversee key engineering documents including equipment lists, basis of design, and procedures
- Drive interdisciplinary coordination and resolve technical conflicts between disciplines
- Monitor engineering deliverables, milestones, and progress, identifying risks and mitigation measures
- Lead design and safety reviews and ensure follow‑up actions are completed
- Support contract management, including technical queries, variations, and change orders
- Contribute to project reporting, budgeting, risk management, and value engineering
- Ensure proper preparation of the engineering final dossier and lessons learned
- BSc in a relevant engineering discipline; postgraduate qualification advantageous
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing detailed engineering activities in the petrochemical or energy sector
- Strong background in FEED/EPC project execution
- Experience working with EPC contractors and multi‑discipline engineering teams
- Exposure to construction, commissioning, or start‑up phases beneficial
- Working knowledge of engineering software (simulation, planning, 3D design tools)
- Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder‑management skills
