NES Fircroft are currently recruiting for a Project Manager for our client, who are a leading consultancy specialising in complex power system challenges. Project Manager: Synchronisation of Belgian Grid Development Plans processes
Location: Brussels (on-site twice per week)

Service description:
As Project Manager of the BE‑PlanSynced project, you lead the end‑to‑end coordination and delivery of a strategic initiative aimed at harmonising the timelines, processes, expectations, underlying assumptions and contents of all Belgian grid development plans.

This scope covers company Federal Development Plan, Investeringsplan Vlaams Gewest, Plan d’Adaptation Wallon, and Brussels investment plan, as well as the investment plans of the distribution system operators, ensuring coherence across all planning layers of the electricity system.

You design and implement the governance required to enable alignment across transmission and distribution system operators, establishing a synchronised, cross‑system planning framework that supports consistent decision‑making, enhances transparency, and optimises investment efficiency at national level.
In addition, you drive the identification and advancement of the legislative and regulatory adaptations required to embed this harmonised approach structurally, in close collaboration with internal experts and external stakeholders.
In this role, you:

• Orchestrate the alignment of planning cycles, milestones and governance processes across TSOs, DSOs and regulatory interfaces
• Identify and resolve structural inefficiencies, inconsistencies and interdependencies between planning approaches
• Define and implement a unified planning framework, balancing operational constraints, regulatory requirements and long‑term system needs
• Facilitate cross‑organisational collaboration and ensure effective stakeholder engagement at all levels
• Safeguard delivery against agreed milestones and strategic objectives

Ultimately, you contribute to building a more integrated, forward‑looking and efficient Belgian grid planning ecosystem.
Deliverables:
A detailed project schedule is to be constructed still, but the strategic ambition is that the development plan cycle of 2029 takes place

1. Q3 2026: Detailed scoping, set up project organization & governance, clear R&R.
2. EO 2026: Blueprint design ready and validated by the system operators including a detailed roadmap & overview of required legislative changes
3. Q1 2027: Agreement with regulators & authorities
4. EO 2027 – Q1 2028: Legislative changes to fully align timelines

Requirements:

• Senior profile with extensive experience in strategy and energy planning.
• Analytical mindset
• Ability to conduct interviews and synthesize collected information.
• Strong analytical skills to develop detailed process improvements and scenarios.
• Proven ability to manage and plan work independently.
• Extensive stakeholder management experience, being able to construct a compelling story and convince internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluent in Dutch, French and English

Additional information:

• Onsite presence: 2 days of physical presence on site / week by default is required
