Position Summary The Security & Emergency Management Specialist supports the planning, coordination, implementation, and continuous improvement of Washington Gas security and emergency management programs. Working under general supervision, this position assists with physical security operations, emergency preparedness, incident response, training and exercises, risk assessments, investigations, business continuity activities, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
The Specialist serves as a key contributor to enterprise resilience efforts by helping protect employees, customers, facilities, infrastructure, and operations across Washington Gas service territories. The position routinely collaborates with operations personnel, contractors, first responders, government agencies, and internal business partners to support a safe, secure, and resilient operating environment. Responsibilities align with Washington Gas' emergency management and security programs, including preparedness, prevention, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Emergency Management
- Support the development, maintenance, and implementation of emergency management plans, procedures, and response documentation.
- Assist with emergency preparedness activities, drills, tabletop exercises, functional exercises, and after-action reviews.
- Participate in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations and incident management activities.
- Support Incident Command System (ICS) implementation and emergency response coordination efforts.
- Track corrective actions and improvement plans resulting from exercises, incidents, and audits.
- Assist with emergency notifications, situational awareness reporting, and incident documentation.
- Support coordination with local, state, federal, and industry emergency management partners.
- Maintain emergency response resources, contact lists, and readiness documentation.
- Support security programs designed to safeguard personnel, facilities, critical infrastructure, vehicles, and company assets.
- Assist with administration and oversight of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and other security technologies.
- Conduct facility security assessments and security surveys.
- Support security incident response activities and security investigations.
- Monitor and analyze security threats, vulnerabilities, and emerging risk trends.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of security procedures, standards, and operational guidelines.
- Support coordination with contract security personnel and security service providers.
- Participate in security planning for high-profile events, executive protection support activities, and special operations as required.
