Are you an experienced procurement professional with a proven track record in the oil and gas industry?

Our client is a global engineering and technology company delivering innovative solutions across the energy sector. Working on complex EPC projects, they support customers in developing and delivering efficient, sustainable energy infrastructure worldwide.

Due to continued project growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Buyer to join their procurement team in the Netherlands.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the procurement of critical materials, equipment and services that support major energy projects.

You'll be responsible for leading procurement activities, negotiating commercial agreements and ensuring the timely delivery of goods and services to meet demanding project schedules and budgets.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, implement and lead procurement plans aligned with project requirements, schedules and budgets.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers in line with strategic sourcing and category management frameworks, ensuring they meet quality, commercial and delivery expectations.
  • Lead negotiations for contracts and commercial terms on critical procurement packages while working closely with the Category Management team.
  • Issue, manage and monitor purchase orders, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company procedures.
  • Drive cost-effective procurement strategies, identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or delivery.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, contractual obligations, industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Provide regular procurement updates, including risk assessments and mitigation plans, to project managers and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support a team of Buyers, providing guidance and sharing best practice to enhance team performance.
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years' procurement experience within the oil and gas industry.
  • Previous experience supporting EPC projects, including the procurement of mechanical equipment and packages.
  • Excellent negotiation, supplier management and communication skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to negotiate complex contracts.
  • Experience using procurement systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of procurement processes, industry regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven project environment.
Desirable
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on large-scale international EPC projects.

Location This role is based in the Netherlands. Candidates currently based in the Netherlands or neighbouring countries are highly preferred. Those requiring relocation should be available to commence the assignment no later than September.
