Senior Contracts Specialist
Location: Sudbury and Timmins regions preferred
Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off
Reports to: Supply Chain Manager
About the Role
The Client is seeking a Senior Contracts Specialist to support the engagement of third‑party services for mine operations. This role focuses on building effective business partnerships, overseeing contract administration activities, and supporting best‑practice procurement and contracting processes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication abilities, a solid understanding of contract terminology, and strong commercial awareness. This position will lead sourcing activities, negotiate contract terms, collaborate closely with Legal and senior leadership, and champion continuous improvement in contract management practices.
This is a site‑based position following a rotational schedule. Preference may be given to candidates residing in nearby regions to Sudbury and Timmins, although this is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities Contractual Oversight & Compliance
- Lead legal and commercial oversight of all supplier agreements.
- Ensure supplier adherence to terms, conditions, and quality standards.
- Audit invoices, validate pricing, and manage progress payments and holdbacks.
- Oversee milestone tracking and mobilization/demobilization cost controls.
- Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
- Conduct regular performance reviews to ensure service levels meet internal needs.
- Lead the Field Work Instruction (FWI) and Change Order processes.
- Address commercial non-compliance issues and support claims resolution.
- Partner with internal departments and operations to provide guidance on agreement execution, planning, and scheduling.
- Act as a subject matter expert within the Supply Chain Team.
- Provide mentorship, set expectations, and identify training requirements.
- Maintain accurate contract documentation and reporting to support compliance and transparency.
- Work with global or corporate supply chain resources.
- Support improvements in contract methodologies and related processes.
- Post-secondary education in Business or Supply Chain.
- SCMP / CIPS certification considered an asset.
- Experience with Oracle ERP or similar systems preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills and excellent organizational abilities.
- Knowledge of mechanical and/or chemical principles is an asset.
- Understanding of logistics, transportation, and regulatory requirements related to contracts.
- Experience working within First Nations partnership structures is considered an asset.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience supporting complex contract administration and negotiations.
- Experience in mining or heavy industry considered beneficial.
- General knowledge of contract management systems and data processing.
