Position Summary Under general supervision, the Senior ESG Accountant applies in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, ESG reporting frameworks, and company financial systems to support accurate financial and sustainability reporting. This role contributes to complex accounting processes while integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations into financial analysis, reporting, and compliance.

The position requires a strong understanding of organizational structure, core business operations, and evolving ESG regulations, along with the ability to manage complex transactions, controls, and reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries for complex accounting transactions, including ESG-related adjustments (e.g., carbon accounting, sustainability investments)
  • Develop and analyze financial and ESG reports, including variance analysis and performance insights
  • Support ESG disclosures aligned with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, and CSRD
  • Review and monitor financial and ESG-related transactions for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
  • Research and resolve complex accounting and ESG reporting issues, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Assist in integrating ESG metrics into financial forecasting, planning, and reporting processes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sustainability, finance, operations, compliance) on ESG initiatives
  • Support internal and external audits, including ESG assurance processes
  • Maintain and improve internal controls related to financial and ESG reporting
  • Contribute to system improvements and automation of ESG and financial data processes
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably with exposure to ESG or sustainability reporting
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP or applicable local accounting standards
  • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and standards (GRI, SASB, TCFD, etc.)
  • Proficiency in financial systems, spreadsheets (advanced Excel), and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with ESG data management tools or sustainability platforms
  • CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification (preferred but not required)
  • Experience in integrated reporting or sustainability assurance
