Senior Financial Analyst - 6 month initial contract - Monday to Friday

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst to join a high-performing finance team supporting large-scale operations across Eastern Australia. This role will play a key part in supporting a major insurance claim process, while also contributing to broader finance initiatives, systems improvements, and operational support.
You will work closely with senior finance leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong cost control, and continuous improvement across finance processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Support a large-scale insurance claim by extracting, analysing, and compiling financial data
• Ensure accurate cost capture, documentation, and record keeping
• Work closely with finance leadership, insurance representatives, and key stakeholders
• Manage Management of Change processes across logistics and operations support portfolios
• Identify inefficiencies in financial systems and reporting processes and recommend improvements
• Partner with finance, cost control, and operational teams to enhance reporting accuracy and visibility
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function
• Provide support to senior finance leadership on strategic and operational activities
• Assist with business as usual finance activities as required

Compliance and Governance

• Support audit processes and respond to audit queries
• Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, governance frameworks, and policies
• Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct

About You
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in a financial or analytical role
• Strong problem solving and analytical capability
• Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders across multiple functions
• Experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP
• Strong Power BI and data visualisation capability
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable Experience

• Experience within the resources or energy sector
• Exposure to joint venture environments

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualified
• Degree in Business, Commerce, or related discipline
