We are currently recruiting a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for our valued client on a rolling contract basis to start in July 2026 to be based in Perth or Darwin.
The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of operations projects across an assigned portfolio in accordance with the clients Operations Projects Delivery model and systems.
The role requires single point accountability, effective governance, planning, cost control, and execution, while maintaining compliance with company HSE, quality, and assurance requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of operations projects across an assigned portfolio in accordance with the clients Operations Projects Delivery model and systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute all activities in accordance with company HSE policies, standards, and procedures
- Ensure the safety, welfare of personnel, and protection of the environment at all times
- Promote and enforce STOP WORK authority across all work activities
- Ensure all personnel and contractors comply with company safety systems and values
- Prepare and adhere to a Personal Safety Commitment Statement
- Maintain and manage the Portfolio Project Register, including risk prioritisation, ranking, and cost-benefit metrics
- Support portfolio reporting, health assessments, and collaboration systems
- Contribute to project assurance processes and governance reporting requirements
- Develop scope of work documentation and deliverables lists
- Prepare project business indicators and third-party service requests
- Prepare cost estimates (Level 1–4), spend profiles, and cost status reports
- Develop project business cases and support capital funding approvals
- Conduct cost performance reviews, forecasting, and reporting
- Monitor and report cost performance (CPI) and progress
- Ensure compliance with procurement, fabrication, and equipment quality standards
- Perform quality verification including FATs, equipment testing, and lifting/rigging inspections
- Manage vendor inspections and raise NCRs where required
- Ensure procurement of materials, consumables, and specialist vendor services
- Raise SAP work orders and purchase orders and support logistics activities
- Oversee fabrication processes including SOWs, TBEs, PRs, and vendor inspections
- Develop and maintain project schedules in Primavera P6, including resource planning and critical path analysis
- Monitor and report schedule performance (SPI) and progress
- Ensure integration with operational, maintenance, and shutdown schedules
- Prepare and review Work Orders, Work Packs, ITPs, and ITRs
- Conduct Ready for Implementation (RFI) assurance reviews
- Ensure permits, isolations, and risk assessments are in place prior to execution
- Manage materials, certification, and equipment registers (including bagging and tagging)
- Monitor execution activities and support daily reporting and contractor oversight
- Support pre-commissioning activities are completed and verified
- Support Ready for Commissioning (RFC) and Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) assurance reviews
- Support testing, training, and handover activities
- Verify workforce inductions and competencies prior to mobilisation
- Ensure materials and equipment are staged and ready for execution
- Complete project close-out documentation, lessons learned, and reporting
- Return surplus materials and equipment to inventory
