Shore Base Operations Support Intern Walvis Bay, Namibia | 2-Month Paid Internship

We are seeking a Shore Base Operations Support Intern to join an exciting offshore deepwater drilling campaign in Namibia. This 2-month paid internship provides valuable exposure to marine logistics, vessel coordination, offshore support operations, and material management, offering an excellent foundation for individuals looking to build a career in the energy, logistics, or maritime sectors.

Working alongside the Shore Base Logistics Manager, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the coordination of critical materials, marine activities, and logistics processes that help ensure the safe and efficient execution of offshore drilling operations. Based in Walvis Bay, this internship offers the opportunity to develop practical industry knowledge while contributing to a world-class operational environment. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day shore base logistics and operational activities.
  • Assist with coordinating the movement of materials, equipment, and supplies to offshore operations.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, reports, and tracking logs.
  • Support vessel scheduling and offshore logistics coordination activities.
  • Assist with inventory management and materials tracking.
  • Contribute to the preparation of operational reports and performance metrics.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard identification initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) requirements and HSE standards at all times. 
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

  • Commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. 
Desirable Skills
  • Familiarity with logistics and ERP systems such as SAP, JDE, or KABAL.
  • Interest in marine logistics, vessel coordination, and offshore support operations.
  • Understanding of the IMDG Code and dangerous goods management.
  • Previous exposure to maritime, logistics, rig, or vessel operations.
  • Experience supporting operational reporting and performance tracking.
Education Requirements Applicants should be:
  • Final-year university students; or
  • Recent graduates with a degree in:
    • Logistics
    • Supply Chain Management
    • Engineering
    • Business
    • Maritime Studies
    • Or a related discipline. 
Experience
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Prior internship, placement, or entry-level experience within logistics, supply chain, maritime, or offshore support environments would be advantageous. 
Additional Requirements
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Namibia.
  • Must be available to work onsite in Walvis Bay for the full two-month internship period.
  • Successful candidates may be required to complete a medical fitness assessment.
  • Willingness to work in accordance with operational requirements and applicable Namibian labour legislation.
