Staff Engineering Technician (Civil – Substation / Infrastructure)
Location: Overland Park, Kansas
Duration: 5 months (Potential to extension)
Rate: $40 Per hour
Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support civil design and infrastructure projects within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects including substations, transmission systems, and site development, contributing to critical infrastructure solutions.

Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support civil design and infrastructure projects within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects including substations, transmission systems, and site development, contributing to critical infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and modify civil engineering design deliverables, including:
- Site layouts
- Grading and drainage plans
- Utility and roadway designs
- Utilize industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, and BIM/CAD platforms
- Perform design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and technical documentation
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution
- Review and interpret engineering inputs to produce accurate deliverables
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members
- Assist with scheduling, coordination, and design reviews
- Minimum 5 years of relevant civil design / engineering technician experience
- Strong experience with Civil 3D grading (required)
- Proficiency in CAD/BIM and 3D modeling tools
- Solid understanding of civil engineering principles (grading, drainage, utilities, site development)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team-oriented environment
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
- Experience supporting infrastructure, substation, or transmission projects
- Full-time, onsite role (5 days per week)
