Staff Engineering Technician (Civil – Substation / Infrastructure)
Location: Overland Park, Kansas
Duration: 5 months (Potential to extension)
Rate: $40 Per hour

Overview
We are seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support civil design and infrastructure projects within a fast-paced engineering environment. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex projects including substations, transmission systems, and site development, contributing to critical infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and modify civil engineering design deliverables, including:
    • Site layouts
    • Grading and drainage plans
    • Utility and roadway designs
  • Utilize industry-standard tools such as Autodesk Civil 3D, MicroStation, and BIM/CAD platforms
  • Perform design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and technical documentation
  • Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project execution
  • Review and interpret engineering inputs to produce accurate deliverables
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members
  • Assist with scheduling, coordination, and design reviews
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant civil design / engineering technician experience
  • Strong experience with Civil 3D grading (required)
  • Proficiency in CAD/BIM and 3D modeling tools
  • Solid understanding of civil engineering principles (grading, drainage, utilities, site development)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, substation, or transmission projects
Work Environment
  • Full-time, onsite role (5 days per week)
  • Collaborative team environment supporting large-scale engineering projects
