Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Orlando, FL
Duration: 12 months (Hybrid)
Rate: $55-$60 per hour
Travel: 50%

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to drive supplier performance, ensure product quality, and support manufacturing excellence across a complex supply chain environment. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with strong technical expertise, analytical capability, and a passion for continuous improvement.
You will collaborate closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure that components and processes meet stringent quality standards while supporting ongoing operational and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead supplier qualification and product/process validation activities (PPQs)
  • Drive supplier performance improvement and development initiatives
  • Manage and resolve supplier non-conformance issues, ensuring timely containment and corrective action
  • Conduct root cause analysis and lead problem resolution using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys)
  • Plan and execute supplier audits, ensuring compliance with quality systems and standards
  • Develop and implement quality requirements, specifications, and inspection processes
  • Support supplier selection and qualification processes
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure design for manufacturability
  • Identify and implement cost reduction and process improvement opportunities
  • Investigate and resolve manufacturing capability and supply chain issues
  • Ensure effective complaint management and continuous improvement
  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or technical training in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related field preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Manufacturing processes (welding, machining, or complex assemblies preferred)
    • Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001)
    • Supplier Quality Management (SQM) practices
    • Engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
  • Experience working with or within manufacturing environments
  • Ability to manage product and process qualifications end-to-end
  • Familiarity with inspection methods and quality assurance techniques

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with quality tools such as:
    • 8D Problem Solving
    • 5 Whys
    • Ishikawa (Fishbone) Diagrams
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement initiatives

Work Environment & Additional Information
  • Hybrid work model (minimum 3 days onsite)
