Key Responsibilities
• Analyse grid connection requirements (e.g., voltage/frequency response,
active/reactive power control, ramp rate limits, fault ride-through,
communications).
• Develop concept control architectures and single line diagrams (SLDs)
showing PPC–SCADA–inverter–BESS integration.
• Define technical scope and functional requirements for PPC in bids and
proposals.
• Support sales and proposal teams with technical clarifications,
documentation, and compliance statements against standards (e.g., AS/NZS,
Grid Codes).
• Contribute to cost estimation and solution configuration (hardware platform,
software license, I/O, communication equipment).
• Liaise with internal and external teams (inverter, BESS, Grid Connection and/or
SCADA suppliers) to confirm compatibility and define required interfaces.
Preliminary / Detailed Engineering Stage
• Prepare functional design specifications (FDS) for the PPC, including signal
lists, control logic overview, and communication architecture (e.g., IEC 60870-5-
104, Modbus TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA).
• Evaluate plant performance models (e.g., for frequency and voltage regulation)
and support simulation studies where required.
• Review and comment on bidding documentation, FAT/SAT procedures, and
control logic narratives.
• Coordinate with SCADA engineers and protection engineers to ensure PPC
integration into the overall control and protection system.
• Support preparation of test plans for PPC grid compliance and factory testing.
Post-Sales / Delivery Support
• Provide technical support to project managers during implementation and
commissioning.
• Support troubleshooting, firmware updates, and post-commissioning technical
reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Power Systems, Control Engineering, or
related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in renewable power plant, BESS, or grid integration
projects.
• Familiarity with AS/NZS 4777, and relevant grid codes.
• Experience with control system design, communication protocols, and
system integration.
• Proficiency in SCADA/PLC environments (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Beckhoff,
SEL, etc.) desirable.
• Understanding of P–Q control, voltage/frequency droop, ramp rate, and grid
support functions.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Skills
• Understanding of power system protection and grid studies.
• Knowledge of BESS control, hybrid plant dispatch, or market participation
interfaces (AGC/EMS).
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams and external suppliers.
