Role Purpose The Telecommunications Commissioning Supervisor ensures the safe, timely, and technically compliant commissioning of all telecom systems on the project. This includes coordinating pre‑commissioning, commissioning, testing, and handover activities for systems such as fiber networks, radio systems, CCTV, access control, PA/GA, network infrastructure, and emergency communications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Commissioning Planning & Documentation
  • Develop and review telecom commissioning procedures, test sheets, and method statements in line with project specifications.

  • Participate in design reviews, P&ID / model reviews, and cause‑and‑effect validation for telecom‑related systems.

  • Prepare and maintain commissioning records, checklists, and close‑out documentation.

2. Site Execution & Supervision
  • Supervise telecom pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities, including system walk‑downs, mechanical completion checks, loop testing, fiber testing, and equipment energization.

  • Coordinate with construction, vendors, and engineering teams to ensure readiness for commissioning.

  • Troubleshoot system issues, diagnose faults, and support corrective actions.

  • Ensure proper use of engineering tools, documentation, and test equipment.

3. Interface & Coordination
  • Work closely with the Operations Team to support system handover, start‑up, and final acceptance.

  • Liaise with vendors and OEM specialists for specialized telecom equipment commissioning.

  • Participate in pre‑start‑up safety reviews with client, construction, PMC, and licensors.

4. Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and model strong HSE behaviors, ensuring all telecom commissioning activities comply with Wood and client safety standards.

  • Verify that telecom systems meet regulatory, project, and operational requirements before handover.

Qualifications & Experience Essential
  • Diploma or degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field; or equivalent trade background with extensive experience.

  • Minimum 7–10 years of commissioning experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or large industrial projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of telecom systems (fiber, radio, CCTV, access control, PA/GA, network infrastructure).

  • Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation.
     

  • Familiarity with Belgian/European petrochemical commissioning practices

Desirable
  • Experience on large EPC/EPCm industrial projects.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
