Location: Superior, WI 54880
Duration: 1 year contract with possibility for extension
Work schedule: 40 hours/week, but during execution individual will be expected to work 7-13s
Pay Rate: $61-74/hr

*Preference for local candidates but will also consider non-local (non-local candidates will receive $178/calendar day per diem)

Description:
The Turnaround Mechanical Planner is responsible for detailed mechanical planning of turnaround activities, from scope validation and task breakdown through work package creation and execution support. This role ensures work packages are comprehensive, safe, and optimized for efficient execution during turnaround events.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct field walkdowns with operations and personnel to confirm scope and capture all mechanical work requirements
• Develop complete turnaround work packages ready for execution
• Prepare and input job plans into planning systems (IPS) with accurate bill of materials (BOM), energy isolation list (EIL), and documentation
• Coordinate with bag & tag, engineering, inspection, and external contractors for material requisitions, piping spec clarification, and validation of hours
• Participate in readiness reviews and scope validation meetings to ensure alignment with schedule and budget
• Support turnaround execution as needed, including clarifying job details, assisting in issue resolution, closure book management, change order planning, and coordinating when needed
• Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting lessons learned and updating reusable equipment specific planning templates

Qualifications Required
• Minimum 5 years mechanical turnaround planning experience in turnarounds, outages, or shutdowns
• Strong mechanical technical knowledge across multiple disciplines (e.g., piping, fixed equipment, rotating)
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, plot plans, equipment drawings, and specifications
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Stable, organized, consistent hard worker that is capable of visualizing complex work scope
• Maturity to take constructive criticism
• Physical ability to climb towers

Preferred
• Experience with IPS planning software and MS Office (Excel, Word, & PowerPoint)
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Turnaround/outage experience in refinery settings would be ideal
