Warehouse Lead – Turnaround (Refinery)
Overview
  • Responsible for all warehouse and material handling activities during refinery turnaround phases (planning, execution, closeout)
  • Ensures timely receipt, storage, tracking, and issuance of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Works closely with planners, procurement, contractors, operations, maintenance, and logistics teams
  • Supports safe, efficient turnaround execution in a fast-paced industrial environment
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
  • Lead daily warehouse and laydown yard operations during turnarounds
  • Supervise warehouse staff, material coordinators, forklift operators, and contractors
  • Manage receiving, staging, issuing, and return of materials and equipment
  • Coordinate material flow between warehouse, laydown areas, and field teams
  • Oversee shift handovers and daily work prioritization
Material Coordination
  • Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing lists
  • Ensure materials are properly tagged, stored, and preserved
  • Track critical materials and escalate shortages or delays
  • Coordinate just-in-time deliveries to reduce congestion
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using SAP or similar systems
Turnaround Support
  • Participate in planning and readiness meetings
  • Coordinate kitting and staging of materials for work crews
  • Manage urgent and emergency material requests
  • Support demobilization and inventory reconciliation post-turnaround
Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce refinery safety standards and warehouse procedures
  • Conduct toolbox talks and promote a strong safety culture
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and housekeeping standards
  • Monitor safe use of forklifts, rigging, and lifting equipment
  • Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
Reporting and Communication
  • Maintain daily material status reports and warehouse logs
  • Communicate shortages, damages, and logistics issues to leadership
  • Liaise with procurement and vendors on deliveries and expediting
  • Support reporting on turnaround performance metrics
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5–10 years of industrial, refinery, or petrochemical warehouse experience
  • Turnaround or outage experience preferred (3+ years)
  • Experience leading warehouse teams in heavy industry
  • Knowledge of turnaround workflows and material coordination
  • Proficient in SAP, Maximo, or similar systems
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Forklift certification preferred
