NES Fircroft is seeking a capable Underground Mining Superintendent—ideally holding a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (SSE)—to join the leadership team.

The Role
Reporting to the Manager Underground Mining, you will provide safe, efficient and cost‑effective leadership of underground development and infrastructure activities.
As part of a small but highly capable team, you’ll work closely with geotechnical engineers, production/project engineers and broader surface project groups. This role includes statutory responsibilities, with SSE coverage on rotation.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead safe execution of all underground development and infrastructure activities
  • Oversee planning, scheduling and production to meet project milestones
  • Provide statutory coverage as Underground Manager / SSE (if qualified)
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost‑efficient operations
  • Support both UG and surface infrastructure projects, including workshops and NPI
  • Mentor and support a small engineering and operational team
  • Conduct inspections, audits and field leadership in line with WHS and site standards
  • Oversee contractor performance and ensure alignment to plans
  • Support delivery of major projects such as:
    • Archway structures in the box cut to prevent water ingress
    • 400 m concrete bores
    • Underground conveyor and crushing systems
 
About You
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, hands‑on project environment. You’ll succeed best if you are:
 
  • Holder of a WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (SSE)
  • Strong underground planning and development background
  • Proficient in mine scheduling, drill & blast, ventilation and UG infrastructure
  • Able to work autonomously within a small team
  • Confident liaising across multiple technical functions
  • Collaborative, safety‑driven and solutions‑focused
  • Experienced in NPI and project delivery
  • Exposed to early‑phase underground development
  • Deswik experience
  • Capability to step into leadership and statutory coverage confidently
