The Business Analyst II will serve as a Data Analyst specializing in public opinion and survey research. The role involves preparing and analyzing survey datasets, applying statistical methods, developing research deliverables such as toplines, and supporting standardized data processes and documentation. This position is best suited for someone with strong SPSS skills and hands-on experience with survey data workflows.

Key Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities • Process raw survey data using structured, repeatable syntax in SPSS
• Execute data validation, weighting, transformations, and summary tabulations
• Prepare research materials such as toplines, annotated questionnaires, and tabulation specifications

Secondary Responsibilities • Develop procedures, documentation, and training materials for data collection and early-stage data processing
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of data libraries and standardized documentation

Tertiary Responsibilities • Support survey instrument development including programming and testing
• Coordinate with survey and data collection vendors
• Perform secondary research including literature reviews, internet research, sampling documentation, and database quality checks

Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Economics, Statistics, or a related social science field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in survey design, public opinion research, polling, or market research
• Strong proficiency with SPSS
• Experience working directly with survey datasets, including weighting and the use of U.S. census data
• Familiarity with sampling sources such as voter files, online panels, and listed directories
• Experience with mixed data collection methods such as online and telephone surveys
• Proficiency with Excel and the MS Office Suite
• Experience with survey programming tools such as Qualtrics
• Proven track record of producing accurate, high-quality work

Preferred Skills • Experience with R, Python, Q Research, or other statistical tools
• Experience managing data collection partners
• Strong understanding of research methodology, strengths, and limitations
