Manual Machinist

We are looking for an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist with a strong background in manual lathe operations and some manual mill experience. This role supports the machining and repair of hydraulic cylinder components and requires the ability to machine precision parts to specification, including cutting both metric and standard threads.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes to machine and repair hydraulic cylinder components
• Perform manual milling operations as needed (drilling, slotting, facing, and basic machining)
• Machine parts including cylinder rods, tubes, pistons, and glands
• Cut metric and standard threads (ID and OD) accurately on manual equipment
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job travelers
• Measure parts using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and thread gauges
• Maintain tight tolerances and ensure quality standards are met
• Perform basic inspections and document results as required
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Machining Environment

• Primary focus: Manual lathe work
• Secondary: Manual milling as needed
• Machines: Manual lathes and mills (no specific brand requirement)
• Materials: Carbon steel and alloy steel commonly used in hydraulic cylinder manufacturing

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of manual machining experience (lathe-focused)
• Proven ability to cut metric and standard threads (internal and external) on manual lathes
• Experience machining steel components
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred Skills

• Hydraulic cylinder repair or manufacturing experience
• Experience working with close-tolerance components
• Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
• Basic mill experience for secondary operation
