Commissioning Superintendent – SAF Plant
Role Summary
The Commissioning Superintendent leads all activities required to safely and efficiently commission and start up a pilot‑scale Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production facility. This role ensures that systems, equipment, instrumentation, and processes are installed, tested, and transitioned into operational service in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the commissioning and start‑up plan, including system walkdowns, punch‑list management, pre‑commissioning, and functional testing.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control systems) through commissioning and start‑up phases.
  • Ensure all systems meet design specifications and comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to ensure seamless turnover from construction to commissioning.
  • Direct troubleshooting during commissioning and initial operations to resolve technical issues and stabilise plant performance.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, including test procedures, commissioning reports, handover packages, and operating manuals.
  • Provide training and competency development for plant operators during start‑up.
  • Ensure safe execution of all activities through strict adherence to Permit‑to‑Work, LOTO, and process safety management systems.
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline).
  • Strong background in commissioning industrial facilities (energy, refining, chemicals, or biofuels).
  • Demonstrated leadership in high‑hazard environments.
  • Excellent understanding of P&IDs, control logic, process safety, and equipment operation.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
