Construction Inspector
Position Summary
This role is responsible for observing, inspecting, and documenting construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements. The inspector will work closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, Office Technician, contractors, and client representatives, and will inspect a variety of construction activities associated with water and wastewater pump station facilities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural work, as applicable.

Position Summary
This role is responsible for observing, inspecting, and documenting construction activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and contract requirements. The inspector will work closely with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, Office Technician, contractors, and client representatives, and will inspect a variety of construction activities associated with water and wastewater pump station facilities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and structural work, as applicable.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Inspection & Compliance
- Perform field inspections of construction activities associated with pump stations and related infrastructure.
- Inspect installation of civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural components for compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Observe construction methods, materials, and workmanship to ensure quality standards are met.
- Verify proper installation of equipment, piping, conduit, foundations, concrete, supports, and appurtenances.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements, permits, and environmental controls.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily inspection reports, including work activities, quantities, materials, weather conditions, and issues.
- Document deficiencies, non-conforming work, and corrective actions.
- Track and log construction activities, test results, and inspections.
- Assist with documentation for testing, commissioning, and project closeout.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer, Construction Manager, and inspection team to support project execution.
- Communicate field observations and issues to project staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Interface with contractor personnel to clarify inspection requirements and resolve field issues.
- Support review of RFIs, submittals, and field changes as requested.
- Observe and document testing activities such as pressure testing, functional testing, startup, and commissioning.
- Verify corrective actions are completed prior to work acceptance.
- Assist with punch list development and tracking.
Required Qualifications
- 4–7+ years of experience performing construction inspection on infrastructure or utility projects.
- Experience supporting water, wastewater, or pump station projects preferred.
- Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and QA/QC practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience inspecting mechanical, electrical, civil, or structural work on pump stations or treatment facilities.
- Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, ASTM, ACI, applicable state and local requirements).
- Certifications such as NICET (Construction, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical) or similar inspection credentials.
- OSHA safety training or construction safety certifications.
