Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Lead at Company who thrives in a dynamic, hands-on, field-based environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing brownfield upstream well-site construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies. Key responsibilities include leading and supervising construction crews, safety system testing teams, crane operations, gas lift/wellhead compression commissioning, and artificial lift installations. The role involves participating in engineering design reviews, interpreting P&IDs, conducting site walkdowns, selecting appropriate materials, developing bills of materials, and monitoring project costs.
The Construction Lead will collaborate closely with operations and facilities engineering teams to upgrade existing systems, focusing on improving reliability, production efficiency, and HSE performance. The role requires strong skills in Construction Management, Supervision, Regulatory Compliance, Oil & Gas Wellhead Equipment, Reporting & Analytics, Commissioning Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Process Optimization, and Industrial Air Compressors. Effective Communication Skills and expertise in Oil & Gas (Plunger Lift Systems), IBM Maximo Asset Management, HSSE, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), SAP MM (Materials Management), BricsCAD, Logistics Management, and SigmaXL are essential.
The successful candidate will perform both preventative and corrective construction maintenance activities, ensuring safe construction practices and compliance with all essential operating procedures. They will also be responsible for initiating improved construction practices to drive down project costs and downtime while increasing safety. This role demands strong project management skills, critical thinking, diagnostic and reasoning abilities, and the ability to ensure the effective working of the Permit to Work system. Adherence to BP's Code of Conduct, Values, and Behaviors, as well as all company health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) practices and procedures, is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage brownfield upstream well-site construction projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate proven project management skills and actively participate in engineering design reviews to ensure project alignment with construction industry expectations.
  • Interpret P&IDs and conduct site walkdowns for pending projects, ensuring all site conditions are accurately documented and addressed.
  • Select appropriate materials and develop comprehensive bills of materials to support project requirements.
  • Monitor project costs meticulously and provide oversight of contractor work to ensure budget adherence and cost-efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Company and regulatory requirements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
  • Initiate and implement improved construction practices aimed at reducing project costs and enhancing site safety.
  • Perform corrective maintenance through effective troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Provide day-to-day management of contractor work and operational priorities, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Ensure safe construction practices through rigorous application of energy isolation, LOTO, and critical safety systems.
  • Lead the planning and execution of construction projects, coordinating resources and timelines effectively.
  • Coordinate with both office-based and field engineers to address project-related matters and ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all essential operating procedures and practices for the construction discipline, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Report activities that could impact the safe operation of processes and/or systems, including potential process safety and operational optimization issues.
  • Ensure the effective working of the Permit to Work system, maintaining strict control and documentation of work permits.
  • Comply with BP's Code of Conduct and model BP's Values & Behaviors, fostering a culture of integrity and respect.
  • Follow all qualified unit and company rules, guidelines, and health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) practices and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for all team members.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in project management within the construction industry, with a focus on well-site construction projects.
  • Proven experience in managing brownfield upstream well-site construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design reviews and the ability to interpret P&IDs.
  • Experience in conducting site walkdowns for pending projects and selecting appropriate materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop bills of materials and monitor project costs effectively.
  • Proven leadership skills in managing construction crews and overseeing contractor work.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards within the industry.
  • Ability to initiate improved construction practices to reduce project costs and enhance safety.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills for performing corrective maintenance.
  • Experience in energy isolation, LOTO, and critical safety systems to ensure safe construction practices.
  • Excellent planning and execution skills for construction projects.
  • Strong coordination skills to work with both office-based and field engineers on project-related matters.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with essential operating procedures and practices for construction disciplines.
  • Experience in reporting activities that could impact the safe operation of processes and/or systems.
  • Knowledge of the Permit to Work system and ensuring its effective implementation.
