An established mining operation in the Hunter Valley is seeking an experienced Contracts Coordinator to join its Supply and Contracts team. This role plays a key part in supporting site operations through effective contract management, procurement governance, and commercial risk mitigation, while operating within a strong safety and sustainability-driven culture.
About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Supply and Contracts Superintendent, the Contracts Coordinator will support the broader Procurement function by managing contract tendering, administration, and performance across a diverse portfolio of goods and services. The role is critical in ensuring contracts deliver best value, align with operational needs, and comply with legislative, safety, and environmental requirements.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in an operational mining environment and enjoys working closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and service providers.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of procurement and contract management strategies aligned with operational and cost targets
- Tender, negotiate, administer, and manage contracts in line with internal policies and governance frameworks
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial and contractual risks to ensure obligations are met and outcomes achieved
- Draft, review, and maintain high-quality contract and tender documentation
- Interpret and communicate contract terms and conditions to internal and external stakeholders
- Lead or support contract negotiations to achieve best value and mitigate business risk
- Maintain accurate contract records and manage contract management systems and documentation
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to operational teams and Principal Representatives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, finance, legal, and HSEC
- Demonstrate strong commitment to zero harm and safe work practices
- Ensure contractors comply with all HSEC requirements and contractual obligations
- Support hazard identification, risk management, audits, and incident reporting
- Ensure contracts clearly define safety, environmental, and community responsibilities
- Contribute to sustainable development initiatives and environmental compliance
- Proven experience in contracts administration and procurement, ideally within mining, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment
- Strong understanding of contract risk, tendering processes, and supplier management
- The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders
- High attention to detail, strong written skills, and confidence in negotiation
- A proactive, accountable approach with a focus on continuous improvement
- A strong alignment with values around safety, integrity, teamwork, and responsibility
