Summary
The Instrument & Controls Engineer will support construction & commissioning of a brown field facility slated to start construction in Destrehan, LA.
The instrumentation, controls and programming are in construction phase at this time. The design and construction must align with strategic initiatives, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local code requirements in United States.
Associated work will include collaboration or leadership of design in concert with engineering contractors for the successful completion of projects.
Incumbent will be responsible for participating in many categories of projects, including Engineering, Procurement, Risk, Information Management, Health-Safety-Environment, Quality, Start-Up/Commissioning.
Provide Instrument and Controlsexpertise to the Industrial Operations management staff while communicating with stakeholders across a diverse interface map.
Responsibilities
1. Assist with preparation and/or oversight of the development of Instrumentation, Controls and Automation design.
2. Assure Design for implementation and trouble-free startup.
3. Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and company requirements.
4. Review equipment standards/specifications/data sheets and related construction bid packages. Assure system and product quality by defining acceptance requirements.
5. Review and monitor controls on scheduling durations for electrical activities.
6. Assemble periodic project reports and engineering activities.
Education/Experience/Skills Required
1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred; Electrical, Instrumentation and Control Technology, or related engineering degree with elements of all of the aforementioned preferred or equivalent work experience in all of the aforementioned areas.
2. Minimum 10 years of combined operations maintenance, operations leadership or construction experience with instrumentation and controls required.
3. A combination of experience in any of the following sectors is required: Power Generation, Industrial Automation Supply, Oilseeds Processing, Agriculture, Biofuels, Pulp and Paper, Food and Beverage, Packaging, or Chemicals. Some experience with grain handling is preferred.
4. Demonstrated project design experience required including participating in projects greater than $50 M TIC that have some degree of I&C components.
5. Exceptional verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills.
6. Demonstrated leadership skills, including stakeholder alignment and interface management.
7. Minimum 5 years of experience working across multiple disciplines.
8. Experience developing logic diagrams, panel/hardware design, and operator interface functional outputs
