Overview

Supporting the Finance team, you’ll assist with cost monitoring and reporting across Operations, Projects, Wells and Decommissioning. This is a development role with structured progression into a Cost Controller position, working closely with operational and engineering teams under senior guidance. A leading independent energy operator with a strong presence in the UK, focused on getting the most out of existing assets through efficient, well-managed operations. Key Responsibilities
- Support cost control across multiple business areas
- Extract and analyse cost data from ERP systems
- Assist with monthly reporting (actuals, accruals, forecasts)
- Track commitments, purchase orders and invoices
- Review and process requisitions, invoices and service entry sheets
- Support time writing and cost allocation processes
- Monitor cost variances and maintain cost breakdown structures
- Assist with project cost tracking from approval to close-out
- Contribute to process improvements and best practices
- Structured pathway into a Cost Controller role
- Exposure across full asset lifecycle cost control
- Training and support towards finance qualifications (AAT/CIMA)
- Increasing responsibility as experience develops
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel and handling data
- Clear communication across teams
- Organised, methodical, and able to manage workload
- Proactive with a willingness to learn
- A-levels (or equivalent); studying towards finance qualification desirable
